So... as my internet connection works again by now, I can finally write this. ^^

Shock has already convinced me of applying here weeks ago, but I wanted to finish (& release) a track first (see link below)...

Some of you already know me, but some of you don't. So, I'm first going to tell you something about me, about how I started playing TrackMania, how I started building tracks etc.

My real name is Paul, I'm 17 and I live in Cologne, Germany.

[You may skip this paragraph - it's just an unnecessarily long version of my 'TM story'. ^^]
I started with TMO (don't know when exactly though) and really liked that game back then as it was quite different from all the other racing games I knew, mainly due to the track editor and the incredible stunts you could create with it. However, I didn't play TM that often until I played TMS on a LAN party and immediately bought it. ^^ Yet, I was stupid enough not to play online, at least not regularly, which I regret until now.
I must have started playing TMS online regularly in mid-2008 or something - but TMS was already kind of 'dead' then. xD So, I was most of the time playing with very few people online, usually on island only servers, until April 2010, when I got TMUF.
In TMS, I had built only a few tracks (one of them is also linked below), but when I found the PPO server in TMUF, I really began to enjoy driving others' impressing editor-creations, and I started building tracks a little more often myself. As I had mainly driven others' tracks before and thus was quite a good racer (at least in island), I also built my tracks for racers rather than for casual players.
But over time, I learned it was also possible to build tracks that every kind of player can enjoy - racers as well as casual players. That's also what I like to build nowadays: I try to keep my tracks intuitive, so even newbies or people who aren't that skilled at driving know how to drive them. But I try to make them challenging for the racers as well, building sections that allow better drivers to gain time e.g. by cutting corners, driving noslide etc.

Now I have been in KG for years, a clan that was actually founded in TMS when it was already 'dead' - and yet survived and even growed a lot until now. But it's is a racers' clan - only very few people are interested in building tracks while most prefer to race.
I like both racing and building, and that's why I'm looking for a trackers' clan that I could join - without having to leave my current one.
I decided to apply for FT because...
... I know quite some members here (especially those ones who recently played on PPO from time to time).
... I think my attitude to track building fits to yours - building tracks that are well made from a design point of view, yet fun to play for everyone.
... Shock has now been waiting for me to apply here for weeks. xD

Last but not least, here are links to some of my tracks - not only my 'best' ones but also different kinds of tracks ('different' considering that they are all built in the island environment ^^):

My newest one. Rather easy to finish, but hard to master. I also tried to keep it rather 'oldschool-stylish'.
http://united.tm-exchange.com/main.aspx?...43157#auto

My most successful one (94 awards). When I listened to the song 'Surf Rider' for the first time (it's played in the movie 'Pulp Fiction' ), I simply had to build a track to this song. ^^ Too bad the locator does not work any longer.
http://united.tm-exchange.com/main.aspx?...07885#auto

My first try at building a rally track. But as I suck at the rally editor, I chose to build a rally@island envmix with lots of 'rallyish' elements in it. (I might still build a rally track some time... )
http://united.tm-exchange.com/main.aspx?...26122#auto

My only tech track by now. I plan to build more in the future though. Made for the 'Wheels on the Ground' MTC.
http://united.tm-exchange.com/main.aspx?...82711#auto

My most successful TMS track. - It's the most awarded track on Sunrise Exchange since its re-opening. ^^ (With 17 awards on that site... lol) A highspeed, compact slider built with concrete blocks only.
http://united.tm-exchange.com/main.aspx?...15503#auto

I guess that's all. ^^

I hope it's not too much to read.

ManiaPlanet ManiaLinks

Hello guys !

• Am I able to be active in our forum, maybe even to start new projects or competitions?
Yes ! I'm on holydays for another month and i'll have a lot of time to spent in TM, and will still have after that.

• Do I play TMUF regularly and also sometimes join other FunTrackers online?
Well i used to play TMU a lot. Sometimes I took "tm breaks" for some weeks or monthes, and then came back again. Now that TM ² is here, i will surely be active for a long time before getting bored. I also play online times to times (let's say an average of an hour per days, but varies a lot).

• Are the tracks I build good enough to become an FT? Are they awesome in design and do they make FUN?
Well, that kinda depends on people's tastes. To be honest, i am not an excellent tracker like Panis, Smokey, GanjaRider, etc... I've never been as good as them at making that kind of full speed tracks we use to see in the Best Of the Week of TMX, even though i'm trying my best to improve that. I'm rather an original track maker. I'm doing tracks that people's are not used to see. Aside race tracks, i also enjoy creating stunt maps, platforms, and even RPG tracks, or a mix of all this ! You'll have to try some of them if you really want an idea of what my style is.

• Am I known in the TrackMania-Community or by other FunTrackers?
I used to be known by some players in the TrackMania old days (got 3 showcases, and some best of the weeks). Also had some good friends (Hageldave, Master_Track, Kendar, etc...) who are now inactive. The only fun tracker who knows me is @ndy. We had some fun online some days ago.

• Will I stay in the Clan or will I leave it, because I want to do something different?
If other members are behave friendly and are not ignoring me, and if the clan is active, i don't see any reason for leaving.

• Am I friendly to the other guys I meet and don't be childish and spam other forums?
Yup.

• Do I accept the Clan- and Forum-Rules?
I would not be here else

• How old are you?
I'm 21 since the 26th July.

• Where do you come from?
I'm French.

• Since when do you play TM?
Since Q1 2006. It was my first PC game with age of empires III.

• Why do you want to join the FunTrackers?
Because I prefer making tracks than driving them. Also I'd like to be part of a group a players I could get friendly and play with. Being a solo tracker without anyone to challenge or to share creations with isn't so funny...

Below is a list of tracks that, in my opinion, are the most representative of my style. These are not obligately the most award since my most awarded tracks are by far not my best ones (imo).

Matrix Code 3

Probably my best track. It's the one i've spent the most of time into. If you try it, make sure to download the media pack linked in the author comments.

Benzin

My first and only Tm ² track until now. The goal was to make it very easy and funny for online driving.

Heißer Schrei

An island full speed track. Not as good as the ones famous authors like GR create, but it seemed to be appreciated.

Frozen Flower

A simple coast track using a snow mode. Might be a little challenging for people who are not used to coast handling.

Like the Wind

Fullspeed bay track. Not much to say about it.

Kompressor

One of my first tracks in TrackMania ! Please be indulgent, i was a complete beginner. I'm linking it too because i've always loved creating such excessively extreme tracks, but also to show my progress in tracking.
You can try my other tracks by searching : "Virus721" or "Virus (Away till' TMU)" on TMS Exhange, "Virus721 (tm break)" on TMX United, and Virus on MX. Some of these tracks use mods that are sadly undownloadable because i lost the files

The Red Box

ManiaPlanet ManiaLinks

The great Tutorial for all Newcomers and Changers from Forever

ManiaLinks – Little websites, which can be viewed directly in the game. If you always wanted to make your own ManiaLink, you are on the exact right place: This Tutorial will introduce the ManiaLinks and their creation to you. You already know how to make a ManiaLink for TrackMania Forever, and now want to upgrade your knowledge to ManiaPlanet? Then this Tutorial will help you, too.

This tutorial is built up of five parts, mostly independent from each other, and dealing with a certain topic. The first part is for all newcomers, who never heard from ManiaLinks and their creation, and will introduce them from the very beginning of XML over the basic knowledge needed to successfully build a ManiaLink in ManiaPlanet. If you already learned how to make a ManiaLink for TrackMania Forever, start with the second part of the tutorial, which will describe the differences between TrackMania Forever and ManiaPlanet. The third part contains a complete reference of all elements to be used in a ManiaLink, including all the attributes of each element, and detailled description of those. The fourth part is for experts, who already built some ManiaLinks and now want to manipulate the elements of the ManiaLinks using the ManiaScript language. The fifth and last part of the tutorial describes different aspects of ManiaLinks, which may be important to some of you, but mostly requires advanced knowledge. This last part can be seen as a collection of topics, which did not match into the other parts.

Although the ManiaLinks in ManiaPlanet are mostly the same as in TrackMania Forever, I sometimes want to differ between the versions of ManiaLinks. I will name the versions by the game with which they have been introduced, so in detail ManiaPlanet ManiaLinks are the ManiaLinks of ManiaPlanet, where Forever ManiaLinks are those known from TrackMania Forever. Additionally, United ManiaLinks are meant to be the very first ManiaLinks introduced with TrackMania United, having a completely different structure as known and described in this tutorial – You don't need to know these, they are only mentioned for completeness

Moin an alle Deutschen and hi to everyone!

Let's go directly to the point as many people should know me.

• How old are you?
I have my real life in my left hand and I have Google Chrome in my right hand. I keep things separate. I asked Marcel and he told me that I am not having to display personal information.
• Where do you come from?
Deutschland. Northern Deutschland.
• Since when do you play TM?
2007 I think. Started with NF, bought UF, downloaded S and O and also have DS and Turbo. And in ² beta.
• Why do you want to join the FunTrackers?
It all started (lol) in TM² on Nadeo's Official Server when many dr members and some FT members were here. Because such large numbers of clan people were here a dr member suggested a fun-war. I also asked if I shall temporarily join FT because dr has been the majority on the server and either roddy (nimrod/paddy) or Marcel (or even someone else, I don't remember) said that either I should join as a real member or never. Marcel said that I could apply in the forums. Well.... you might just have experienced what that was leading to ^^
All right, I am a mapper, I am a racer, I am a video maker, I am a screenmaker, I am a manialink maker, I am active in the community, I am a beta tester, I am metoxys Productions!

..

ok

Hey all.
I saw the applications are re-opened so I decided to make one, and who knows, maybe I will manage to enter, maybe not. So, here I start.

How old are you?

I am 14 years old. Probably the youngest from TMX, who knows?

Where are you from?

I am from Romania

Since when do you play TM?

I play TM since one year

Why do you want to join FT?

The editor is the best thing, in my opinion, about TM and most of my playtime was spent there. So why shouldn't I join a building clan? And by the way, FT seems to be the best building clan, and I build for my fun, and after that, for the fun of others.

Links of my best tracks

-A Thousand Suns
It was my first TMU track and imo pretty successful

-Mountain deW
Still a beta, but about to be finished. (That unsmooth drop is fixed in another version^^)

-My Garden
My last stad track. A little tricky but it was a success in my TMNFX friends' opinions.

Oh.. and for those who are beta testing TM2, you can check my tracks on that site.

-Hot Seat (TM2 Track)

Yes. My first TM2 track. It's a tricky FS Track

Well, that's it.
Have fun, good luck

[Beta] Your first impressions of TM² Canyon

So after having played the Beta for some days now: What do you think of the new ManiaPlanet and TrackMania² Canyon?

I think, TM² Canyon is very good. It is a new Environment and therefor completely different from the known ones, but it still have the typical TrackMania feeling. The handling is very nice: The car can become very fast, but with the drifts/slides you are always able to get sharp corners. I like these drifts

The damage model is very nice to look at: Crashing against a wall, and your car deforms or may even loose one door etc. And as I cannot drive Canyon yet, I always finish a track with a damaged car... Impossible to get thorugh without crash

My favorite block so far: The loop. Very hard to drive, but looks fantastical

Of course I took a closer look on the ManiaLinks and on ManiaScript. Sadly, no much information are known yet, so I think my current impression may change until release, when everything is known.
The Manialinks are mostly kept as they are in TMF, but with the Integration of ManiaScript, a C-like scripting language*, you get full control of the ManiaLink, even after it has been done loading. If you see the ManiaLinks as HTML, ManiaScripts behaves similar to JavaScript. Let's see, how powerful ManiaScript will really become, until now, it sounds very good

(* Actually ManiaScript is no script language, but a compiler language, as the Scripts get compiled before execution.)

But there is also a downside, as of the Beta state: The game does not run stable on my notebook. It crashes or freezes very often, and this can be frustrating sometimes, if you built a map and it crashes before you saved it... Let's hope, this will get better with the release ^^

As of the huge amount of spambot accounts registereing the last time, I decided to completely disable new registrations for now.

If you want to register to the forum, you may send me an eMail, giving your preferred Forum Account Name, and your TrackMania-Login. Giving additional information about yourself will increase your chance to be accepted. If everything is alright, I will create the forum account for you, and send you the password for it. Any suspicious requests will get ignored.

If you are a normal user: Sorry for bothering you with this method, but there is no other way to reduce spambot accounts
If not: Go away, you are not welcome.
